This program is intended for masters rowers and athletic trainers who have access to rowing machines for their clients. Participants will be taught the basic rowing technique emphasizing 30 criteria. Then they will be videotaped while rowing for approximately 4 – 5 minutes. During the videotaping everyone will analyze the rower with the set of 30 criteria taught earlier. The goal is to learn to recognize correct rowing for yourself and others and understand what a health program using rowing can provide. There will be one-on-one coaching by and for participants. This is not a rowing practice workshop.
Part I – Instructors will present the Concept2 Rowing Machine and describe in detail the 30 criteria in the Basic Rowing Technique including a demonstration of common errors and how to correct them.
Part II – Videotaping of basic rowing technique of each participant followed by analysis by all participants (each rower will anonymously analyze every other rower using the 30 criteria previously taught—including the instructors).
Note: You must have completed the USRowing online WAIVER for 2017 to participate.
Please wear workout clothes and shoes, bring water and a thumb drive to take the video of your basic rowing technique home with you for further analysis and to guide your practice.
