C. Sutton Titus was Princeton’s first crew coach

C. Sutton Titus (August 14, 1873 – August 24, 1967) was Princeton’s first professional Crew Coach (1906 – 1910).  He insisted that oarsmen learn to scull before being allowed to pull a sweep oar.  He was an American rower who competed in the 1904 Summer Olympics.  He won the bronze medal in the single sculls.

Tomorrow we will try to understand why Sutton Titus was so keen on sculling.
